Once you get to chapter 22, an ENTIRE SQUAD of onion ninjas will invade your house and force you to cry during the entire chapter. If you read this story, they will track your progress. The author has allied with the Onion Ninja Clan. I will continue reading religiously until this happens, and probably after as well. Someone will eventually give this poor girl a hug, and I will be there cheering them on. I think it might just have a happy ending eventually, too? I see a lot of people asking how similar it is to Madoka. The overall story so far can be summed up as "extremely, uncomfortably real." Made me cry. There is also really intriguing lore to be had here.
The alternate perspective chapters provide an amazing contrast to the main chapters, allowing us to step outside our MC's head and see how others see the world. The narration is brilliantly unreliable and swiftly helps you get peeks into the MC's head and the way she thinks about things. There's a lot of subtle implications for the reader to work through. The MC and supporting characters are delightful. This is the most beautifully heartwrenching thing I've read in years. I am going to have two hours of sleep tonight, because I was reading this from start to finish.
